  • Department of Chemisty, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati-517 502 Manuscript received 23 May 1991, revised 17 June 1992, accepted 6 Au gust 1992 The electrochemical reduction behaviour of 1 amino-9,10-anthraquinone has been studied by employing d.c. polaro­graphy cyclic voltammetry, a.c. polarography and difterentiel pulse polarography in the supporting electrolytes of pH ranging from 2.0 to 12.0 Millicoulometry is employed for the determination of number of electrons involved in the electrode process. Diffusion coefficient values and forward rate constant values are evaluated. The nature of the electrode process and reduction mechanism have been presented. In this communication a detailed polaro­graphic determination procedure has been described, based on the well-defined cathodic peaks obtained for the electro active species.
