- Brachinus (Neobrachinus) pallidipes Reitter, 1919, comb. nov. Figure 2 (b) Brachinus stenoderus Andrewes, 1924 [non Bates, 1873] (Lorenz 2016; Anichtchenko 2016) Material examined. Gilgit-Baltistan, Hunza, Jaglot, 5 ♀ & 5 ♂, 09.ix.2014; Skardu, Rundu, 1 ♀ & 2 ♂, 04.ix.2014, Mishkat & Ibad; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chitral, Shah Sheri Sham, 1 ♀ & 2 ♂, 22.viii.2015, Mishkat (PMNH). Measurements. Male (n=5): TL= 10.61 mm, HW= 1.91 mm, PL= 1.81 mm, PW= 1.68 mm, EL= 6.68 mm, EW= 2.28 mm. Ratios PL/PW= 1.07, HW/PW= 1.13 and EL/EW= 2.92 Female (n=5): TL= 10.34 mm, HW= 1.78 mm, PL= 1.71 mm, PW= 1.59 mm, EL= 6.55 mm, EW= 2.15mm. Ratios PL/PW= 1.07, HW/PW= 1.11 and EL/EW= 3.04 Diagnosis. Mostly reddish yellow. Antenna, palps and legs pale yellow. Head and pronotum strikingly narrow, the head longer than wide with large eyes. Elytra black-blue with fine vigorously raised striae. Elytral membranous apical margin moderately developed and clothed with a fringe of closely spaced, very short setae. Abdomen ventral side blackish brown and thorax yellowish brown. Comments. Brachinus pallidipes was placed in the subgenus Brachynolomus Reitter, 1919 (Anichtchenko 2016; Lorenz 2016), while Hrdlička (2003) retained this species in incertae sedis. We suggest the placement of this species in the subgenus Neobrachinus, as the III antennal segment is longer than the combined length of I plus II segments (it is subequal in Brachynolomus). Likewise, male anterior tarsal articles show ventral adhesive vestiture longitudinally arranged, as in Neobrachinus, whereas it is diagonally arranged in Brachynolomus. Distribution. This species is newly recorded from Pakistan. It has been recorded from India by Anichtchenko (2016).
