  • Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science at Qena, Qena, Egypt Manuscript received 28 November 1988, revised 22 May 1989, accepted 22 July 1989 The effect of different concentrations of citric, tartaric, oxalic and sulphuric acids on the anodic film properties of Al and Al —Mn alloy has been investigated. The anodised specimens were exposed to the corrosive medium (HCl) and the corrosion rate was examined using Mylius thermometric method, weight-loss technique and hydrogen evolution measurements. The properties of the anodic film formed in the acids have been discussed in the light of their resistance to corrosion.
