  • Remus Holme 1837 Remus Holme 1837: 64. Type species: Remus sericeus Holme, 1837, by monotypy. Notes: The genus Remus, with four species currently known, has been recorded from the Palaearctic, Madagascar and Oriental regions as well as from New Caledonia, Fiji, Tahiti, Austral Is. (Tubuai), Australia and New Zealand; introduced in USA but apparently reported in error from Cuba. Remus pruinosus (Erichson 1840) [reported from CASA (Cuba) in error] Philonthus pruinosus Erichson 1840: 510. Type locality: Sardinia. Type depository: ZMHB? #?ST. Distribution: Europe, Turkey, Russia, Canary Is., Azores,?Madeira; Cuba in error? Notes: Cuba record in Herman (2001d) and Peck (2005) based on discussion of R. pruinosus by Bierig (1934), but as noted by Frank & Ahn (2011: 56) Bierig did not present any Cuba (or other New World) records.
