College, Khurja-203 131 Manuscript received 21 January 1993, revised 27 January 1994, accepted 9 February 1994 Chelates of RuIII, RhIII, PdII, OsIV, IrIII and PtIV with p-dimethylamino-, p-diethylamino-, p-chloro-, p-bromoand p-iodo-anils of 2-thiophene glyoxal have been prepared. In electrolytic square-planar complexes of PdII and octahedral complexes of other metal ions, ligands are coordinated through thienyl sulphur and carbonyl oxygen in quinonoid structure.
