In the presence of perchloric acid the first complex dissociates to cobaltous ion, free ethylenediamine, free acetylacetone and oxidised products of acetylacetone. The dissociation follows an acid-assisted path. Rate constant (kobs) for the complexes have been evaluated. A mechanism has been proposed for the first complex.
