India Manuscript received 20 September 1999 This review describes the kinetics of hydrolysis and substitution reactions of platinum(II) complexes studied recently. In some of the above reactions reported from our laboratory, a ring opening phenomenon of the parent chelates has been observed. The preference for sulfur atom in bonding in the case of sulfur containing ligands is noteworthy.
