The kinetic results were analyzed by a suitable computer solftware involving various kinetic laws of gas-solid reaction to find the mechanism and activation energy and have further been substantiated by reduced time plot analysis. The mixed mechanisms of chlorination—contracting geometry and diffusion control—were observed for CuO whereas chlorination of CoO showed single diffusion control. The activation energies of chlorination of copper oxide and cobalt oxide are respectively 6.5 and 95 ki mol-l.
