The base hydrolysis of these complexes proceed through a two step mechanism. (AA)2 COX3+2 +OH- → (AA)2 CO(X)OH2+ + X- (AA)2 Co(X)OH2+ +OH- → (AA)2 Co(X)(OH)+2 + X- A Dcb mechanism has been proposed for the reaction.
