Thioglycollic acid (TGA) capped CdSe QDs with bright fluorescence and good monodispersity were synthesized. The growth kinetics of the nanoparticles was also studied. The nanoparticles possessed broad emission peaks corresponding band edge fluorescence and deep trap states. The CdSe quantum dots were characterized by Optical spectroscopy, Fluorescence spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infra red (FTIR) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM). These CdSe QDs with broad band emission can have attractive roles in some biological tools like flow cytometric analysis and biolabelling.
