- This paper emerged from the work performed in the framework of the EU funded project H2020 InnoRate (GA 821518). It describes the current state-of-play of technology assessment. In particular, the interest is in different methodologies, tools and services used for assessing and rating technologies of innovative SMEs. Besides the traditional approaches used by investors and financial institutions in general, such as banks, VCs, etc., the main focus was on revealing what new ways for technology assessment have been developed and used by other players involved in this topic. A comparative analysis of the identified practices will be performed at the end, in order to extract meaningful insights regarding good practices, pros and cons, as well as challenges and gaps within the current state-of-play.
