Yangga, Wen County (32.93 oN, 104.68 oE), Gansu Province, 2000 m, 5.vii. 2001, leg. Houhun Li & Xinpu Wang, gen. slide no. CYP 12047. Diagnosis. Adult (Fig. 11) with wingspan 37.0 mm. The orbicular and reniform stigmata, the postmedial line and the subterminal band are well-developed in P. taiwanensis sasakii as in P. ussurialis, but P. taiwanensis sasakii can be recognized by the male having a subtrapezoidal reniform stigma, which is somewhat rectangular in the latter species; the male genitalia are characterised by having a short and curved sella, a juxta that is concave shallowly on the posterior margin, and a phallus with L-shaped cornutus (Fig. 19); in P. ussurialis, the sella is straight, the juxta is concave deeply in a broad V shape on the posterior margin, and the phallus bears a C-shaped cornutus. Distribution. China (Gansu, Hubei, Sichun, Yunnan), Japan, Russia (Far East). Ecology. Caught in mountains at 2000 m. Flight period in early July.
