Nickel and copper complexes of a pyridyl-appended tetra-amide ligand Syntheses and characterization

Both complexes have been crystallographically characterized and exhibit a square-planar geometry around the metal ion. Both complexes display an interesting solid-state packing between complex anions and Na+ ions involving Oamide groups and appended 3-pyridyl rings generating sheet-like architectures. Cyclic voltammetric studies were performed to understand the redox nature of complexes 1 and 2 whereas one-electron electrochemical oxidation led to the generation of unstable 1Ox and 2Ox species displaying unique absorption spectral features.
