- Pomacentrus tripunctatus Cuvier in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1830 —Threespot damselfish Status at New Ireland. New record; previously misidentified from St. Mathias as Pomacentrus biocellatus (non Rüppell, 1838) by Duncker & Mohr (1929: 67), based on ZMH 12961. Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 4.—General distribution: India and Sri Lanka east to Philippines and Vanuatu, north to Yaeyama Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found in groups, in rocky reefs near the shore, 0–3 m depth. Transitional water and marine.
