- Cephalopholis miniata (Forsskål in Niebuhr 1775) —Red coral grouper Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Lihir Group, Namatamai District, New Ireland by Fry et al. (2006: 130). Specimens observed by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005, and collected by Barry C. Russell on 21 June 2014. A specimen photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 12 Apr. 2007. Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2, 5.—General distribution: Red Sea, East Africa, Madagascar and western Mascarenes east to Fiji and Tonga, north to Ogasawara Islands, south to Western Australia, Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Demersal in various coral reef habitats, 2–150 m depth. Marine.
