- Structural system of a high-rise building often more pronounced effects than a low-rise building on the financial and architectural aspects. Shear-wall is a structural system (element) that provides stability to the buildings against lateral loads especially, wind and seismic loads in addition to gravity load. The present study consists of numerical modelling of multi-storied residential buildings with and without shear walls using STAAD Pro software. Steel and reinforced concrete shear walls are considered in the models which are placed in multiple positions. It is found from the analysis that the building with shear-wall reduced deflection and level of stress to a very great extent.
