- Mazama americana (Erxleben, 1777) . Red Brocket Figure 2C Records. Recorded by line transect (09°15.898′S, 068° 58.372′W), opportunistic sightings camera trapping, hunter interviews, and hunting calendar. Identification. The body is predominantly reddish-brown but varies from light to very dark. The neck is brown which contrasts with the color of the trunk. The flanks are similarly paler colored. There are white blotches at the base of the ears (Rossi 2000).
