- ACROPORA ELEGANS GROUP Diagnosis Species with lightly structured coralla, mostly with horizontal branching that are sparsely arranged and sometimes anastomosed. Radial corallites tubular or appressed tubular, evenly sized, sparsely distributed; coenostum formed of elaborated spinules, densely to moderately arranged. All eight recent species of this group occur in calm waters, in relatively deep-water sites for Acropora, mostly below 20 m depth (Wallace, 1999; Wallace et al., 2012).
