Oxychalepus anchora Monrós & Viana 1947: 248 (not Chapuis) (Argentina species). Description. Oblong; parallel-sided; head and antennae black; pronotum yellow, with a medial band attenuate forward and two narrow lateral ones, black; scutellum black; elytra black, with an oval humeral macula and a postmedial band of unparallel borders, yellow; base of the femora yellow (there are forms with the femora entirely yellow and others with the femora entirely black); venter black, with yellow maculae. Head: vertex with three shallow interocular sulci, of which the central one, in its anterior part, is transformed into a carina; eyes slightly prominent. Antenna: antennomeres 1 and 2 subglobose; 3 and 4 of similar length and larger than 2; 5 and 6 similar to each other, shorter than the preceding; 7 similar to 6, its suture with 8 poorly defined; 9– 11 difficult to distinguish; 11 very sharp pointed at apex; 3 to 6 longitudinally striate. Pronotum: transverse, convex; conic; coarsely deeply punctate; with a shallow longitudinal medial sulcus; lateral margin bisinuate; anterior angle with small tooth; pronotal length 1.0– 1.1 mm (n=20); pronotal width 1.8–2.0 mm. Scutellum: transverse; posteriorly rounded. Elytron: lateral margin serrate; exterior apical angle strongly dentate with four strong and robust teeth; widely and cojointly rounded at the apex; costae 1 and 2 parallel, wide in the anterior 1⁄2 and narrower in the posterior 1⁄2; 3 visible in the humerus and in the apex; 4 narrower than 2; with 10 rows of punctures, scutellar row absent; row of punctures between costae 2 and 4 somewhat confused in middle; elytral length 6.7–6.9 mm; elytral width 2.2–3.0 mm. Total length: 6.1–9.6 mm. Remarks. This species is distinguished by the elytra without a scutellar row; by the vertex of the head being trisulcate; and by antennomeres 1 and 2 being subglobose. Host plants. Inga affinis DC. (Mimosaceae) (Uhmann 1938b); Solanum auriculatum (Solanaceae). Canavalia ensiformis, C. spontanea, Dioclea sp., Cimbosema sp., Phaseolus sp.
