- As part of the implementation of reforms in school education in Ukraine, the problem of gradual adaptation of primary school teachers to the methods and concepts of the New Ukrainian School is relevant. The purpose of the article was to identify the main forms of work with students in grades 5-6 in order to increase their interest in learning mathematics. The peculiarities of the Finnish educational process of the Finnish model for the development of the concept of the New Ukrainian School are taken as a basis. Based on the analysis of teaching mathematics in a Finnish school, the main criteria for preparing an interesting mathematics lesson are determined. The article presents the main directions of increasing students' motivation in mathematics lessons of the adaptation cycle of basic secondary education, which is planned for the New Ukrainian School. The expediency of solving problems of applied nature, formation of practical skills, problem-solving as motivation, organization of integrated lessons, use of game elements, mathematical paradoxes, examples of the history of mathematics, interactive forms of learning are substantiated. As the standard of higher education in the specialty 014 Secondary education has not yet been approved, the training of secondary school teachers is carried out based on autonomous educational programs of higher educational institutions. There is a need to make changes to the list of results and program components to consider the principles of the New Ukrainian School. This article contains recommendations for improving the educational programs of mathematics teachers. The results of scientific research can be used in organizing the educational process at school. We plan to study the curriculum, adjust the recommendations after the approval of the standard of secondary education.
