- Melanotaenia gracilis Allen Slender Rainbowfish While largely restricted to the Drysdale River system in the Kimberley, Melanotaenia gracilis has also been found at one locality in the upper King George River (Hutchins 1977) and within one tributary of the Carson River (Morgan et al. 2006, Morgan in press) (Fig. 20). It was particularly abundant at one site on the Carson River, with 265 individuals captured. It is unclear why it is not more widespread in the Carson River.
