  • Limnogonus (Limnogonus) profugus Drake & Harris, 1930 Geographical distribution: Brazil, Peru, Paraguay, and Argentina. There is one record from Venezuela, which is questionable and not considered here. Distribution in Brazil: Central-West and Southeast regions (MT, MG, MS, SP, RJ) (Drake & Harris 1930; Kuitert 1942; Nieser & Melo 1997; Vianna & Melo 2003; Souza et al. 2006; Ribeiro et al. 2010). Comments: The type-locality mentioned by Drake and Harris (1930) is “Chapada, Brazil,” and no collector is cited. However, types of other species described by those authors from Chapada have been collected by Herbert Huntington Smith, who made collections on the surroundings of Chapada dos Guimarães between 1882 and 1886. At that time, the locality was known only as “Chapada,” and material observed by Drake and Harris was probably originated from Chapada dos Guimarães, MT.
