  • Tridacna maxima (Röding, 1798) Habitat. Byssally attached and semi-embedded mostly on the reef crest. Distribution. Giant clams are not infrequent around the lagoon. Remarks. Tridacna remains part of the artisanal fishery and can be found among middens although not in the same numbers as Turbo and Pleuroploca spp. Range. Indo-Pacific [R/M/S]. Figured specimen. Not a Rodrigues shell, 160.0 mm, NMW.Z.1955.158.2465.
