Drawings of the subgeneric classification of the genus Tedania by Van Soest (2002): Tedania species have ectosomal diactinal spicules with microspined heads, choanosomal monactinal or diactinal spicules and onychaetes. Tedaniopsis species have ectosomal diactinal spicules with smooth heads, choanosomal monactinal and diactinal spicules and onychaetes. Trachytedania species have ectosomal diactinal spicules with smooth heads, choanosomal monactinal spicules with smooth or microspined base (styles or acanthostyles) and onychaetes.
