- The article tells about the life and work of muralist Volodymyr Fedko. His career is associated with well- known Ukrainian artists of informal line of fine arts of the second part of XX century,including O. Kravchenko. V. Fedko had deep knowledge of the processes of Ukrainian art, local historical events and more. Religious theme in his creation was not the main, but had very interesting examples. The mosaic on Metro (the underground station) in Kiev is an example of creative interpretation of images of Ukrainian saints and historical characters to the Mongol period. Such project was risky in Soviet times and could bring a lot of troubles to the artists. This Metro station was still made by the author`s intention and was one of the best in the world. Mostly these image mosaics conform to the Ukrainian church art iconographic schemes. Paintings of religious subject were made by master in conditional decorative style. This color graphics are the author`s interpretation of the famous biblical scenes, such as «Crucifixion», «Christmas», «Trinity» and so on.
