- The objective of the present work is to demonstrate 1) an advanced Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) and 2) a model-based state observer in a wave basin for Seaplace’s concrete FOWT design. The core of sowento’s contribution to the project CROWN – Motion Reduction is the demonstration of University of Stuttgart and sowento’s reduced-order aero-hydro-servo-elastic FOWT simulator SLOW, applied in real-time within a state-observer at IH Cantabria’s wave basin in February 2020. The observer reconstruction capability and robustness against unmodeled dynamics will be assessed. The controller performance comparison against numerical predictions will be shown.
