- The article deals with the problem of proper’s name nomination. The names of settlements are formed in toponymic system.This type of proper names as the members of toponymic system have their specific properties based on pecullarity of proper’s name nomination The features of hydronimyc toponyms are defined. The location in space is the main feature of toponymic system. The names of settlements based on words with the meaning of place. The aim of this article is to analyze hydronimyc toponyms from the position of reconstruction of hydrographical vocabulary. Hydronimyc toponyms with the stem*bystrъ and proper names with cluster стр-(str) are examined. The author compares common names, which are formed hydronimyc toponyms, with other words of different Slavonic languages. The common names быстрый, быстрица, быстрь, стрежень, which are formed names of settlements , belong to the archaic words. Proper names with cluster стр-(str) confirm the using it’s cluster as hydronimyc stem.
