  • We present an automatic rescheduling algorithm for the real-time control of large-scale railway networks in case of disturbances and disruptions. The algorithm consists of four main steps, one for the offline configuration and the remaining three for the real-time control of the railway traffic. The on-line control is performed using a Model Predictive Control strategy combined with a distributed optimization algorithm and a bilevel heuristics based on MILP modelling. The method is preliminarily tested on the national Dutch railway traffic network.
