  • These data were generated using SWIA & NGIMS plasma and particle data collected on the MAVEN spacecraft. These data products were used to obtain the results found in a paper submitted to JGR: Planets, "Precipitating Solar Wind Hydrogen as Observed by the MAVEN Spacecraft: Distribution as a Function of Column Density, Altitude, and Solar Zenith Angle." The data columns are as follows: Time [s]: This corresponds to the epoch time (ie number of seconds since January 1, 1970) at which each penetrating proton measurement was taken. Orbit: This is the orbit number of the MAVEN spacecraft when the measurements were taken. Altitude [km]: MAVEN's altitude in kilometers at the time of the penetrating proton measurement. Column Density [cm^-2]: The column density at the point of the penetrating proton measurements (details of calculation can be found in paper) in inverse squared centimeters. Normalized Height: This is the unitless, normalized peak differential flux of each penetrating proton spectrum measured by SWIA. Details of the normalization procedure can be found in the paper listed above. Normalized Width: This is the full width at half max divided by the peak energy for each modeled penetrating proton profile. This quantity is unitless. SZA [degrees]: This is the solar zenith angle in degrees at which the penetrating proton measurement was taken. Energy [eV]: This is the energy at which the peak flux of each modeled penetrating proton profile occurred in electronvolts.
