- ABSTRACT Polyurethanes are often produced by reacting a hydroxylated prepolymer with isocyanate crosslinkers. In order to obtain the prepolymer, a macrodiol is reacted with diisocyanate via the addition reaction between OH and NCO functional groups, so called chain-extension. During the experiments, two specific macrodiols were chain extended with two conventional diisocyanates as described in the proceedings article “Influence of aliphatic moieties in diisocyanates on chain extension kinetics of adipate macrodiols” Sandra Mačiulytė, Antanas Strakšys, S.
