- Schlutz et al. published data of five patients with venous thrombosis and thrombocytopenia about 7 to 10 days after receiving the first dose of a vector vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). The patients had no previous exposure to heparin but all five patients had high levels of antibodies to platelet factor 4–polyanion complexes. Schlutz et al. concluded that there is a rare vaccine-related variant of spontaneous vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia. The data of Schlutz et al. are reanalyzed again.
