- This paper considers how public functions in Greek cities are described in the Oreirocritica by Artemidorus of Daldis. Some aspects are dissonant with the conventional presentation found in public inscriptions. Instead of the dedication of the magistrates to their cities or the enumeration of their gifts, the dreams collected by Artemidorus reveal the interest of "rich" individuals in positions of power, allowing them to behave with arrogance, and possibly favouring their enrichment.
