- Flaminio, a disciple of Nebrija, in his speech of praise of eloquence, argues that the mastery of the word made men able to converse and establish bonds of friendship between them to form society. The word removed the human being from the caverns of ignorance and granted him an almost divine dignity. Therefore, rhetoric, based on grammar, is the art of finding the truth, and all the other arts and sciences are subject to it.
