- Resumen: El orientalismo musical ha sido objeto de gran atención por parte de los especialistas. Menos lo ha sido la música para películas orientalistas. Tratamos de entender cómo tanto en el cine mudo como en el sonoro, en un período comprendido entre 1921 y 1962, fechas de producción de L ́Atlantide y Lawrence of Arabia, la música se ha convertido en un aspecto clave para la comprensión del sujeto orientalista en términos sociales y estéticos. Este artículo viene a restituir la importancia del vínculo entre antropología y estética, en este caso musical, mediante el estudio de lo oriental cinematográfico. Abstract: Musical Orientalism has attracted great attention among specialists. Much less well known are the scores of Orientalist films. Here we reflect on how, in silent as well as sound films from 1921 to 1962 (the respective production dates of L’Atlantide and Lawrence of Arabia), music has become a key element for understanding the Orientalist subject in social and aesthetic terms. This article revives the important issue of the connection between Anthropology and Aesthetics, in this case a musical connection, through the study of the oriental world as depicted in films.
