  • Euseius plebeius (Van der Merwe) (Fig. 32) Amblyseius (Amblyseius) plebeius Van der Merwe, 1968: 148 FEMALE (Specimens measured – Burundi: 3, Kenya: 3, Rwanda: 6). Dorsum ­ Dorsal shield with few lateral striae anterior to S2, 298(274­320) long, 190(173­216) wide. Setae j1 27(22­32), j3 21(18­29), j4 13(11­13), j5 13(11­16), j6 and J2 14(11­16), J5 5(3­8), z2 19(16­24), z4 24(19­27), z5 11(10­13), Z1 14(13­16), Z4 19(18­ 22), Z5 53(45­56), s4 38(32­42), S2 19(16­22), S4 19(16­24), S5 22(16­27), r3 19(14­26), R1 11(10­13). All setae smooth, except Z5, which is serrate. Peritreme ­ Almost reaching level of j3. Venter ­ Ventral shields smooth. Distances between ST1­ST3 56(53­59), ST2­ST2 62(59­64), ST5­ST5 64(61­69). With 2 pairs of fused metapodal shields. Ventrianal shield 96(86­104) long, 48(45­61) wide at ZV2 level and 59(53­67) wide at anus level. Spermatheca ­ Calyx with distal cone­shaped portion 8 long, and inflate portion near atrium 10 long; atrium distinct. Legs ­ Macrosetae sharp­tipped: SgeII 19(16­21), SgeIII 19(14­22), StiIII 21(19­22), SgeIV 32(27­35), StiIV 29(19­32), StIV 51(37­62). SPECIMENS EXAMINED: Burundi: 42 km N. Bujumbura, on Annona senegalensis, 11­XII­89, J.S. Yaninek; 53 km NE Bujumbura, on weed and Emilania comosa, 12­XII­ 89, J.S. Yaninek. Kenya: Sondu, Nyanza Province, on unidentified plant, 3­XII­89, J.S. Yaninek; 17 km S. Sondu, on Ageratum conyzoides, 3­XII­89, J.S. Yaninek; 10 km E. Kidii, Nyanza Province, on unidentified plant, 3­XII­89, J.S. Yaninek. Rwanda: ISAR Station, Rubona, on Commelina benghalenis and Achyrante cepera 6­XII­89, J.S. Yaninek; ISAR Station, Karama, on Cassia spectabilis and Grevillea robusta, 9­XII­89, J.S. Yaninek; 6 km N. Kibungo, on Lantana camara.
