The paratype is: AMNH 123162, adult male, collected at Honda on 4 February 1913 by Chapman and Cherrie. Olson (1981: 369–370) and Dickinson (2003: 771) recognized hondae; Fraga (2011: 759) synonymized it with I. chrysater giraudii. Olson (1981: 370) gave characters for recognition of hondae based on the above two specimens, and noted that additional specimens of hondae from the upper Magdalelna River Valley are needed.
