An Australasian species, all of whose parasitic stages have been found on Mammalia (several orders) and Passeriformes: Cracticidae; adults alone have been collected from Passeriformes: Corvidae, Casuariiformes: Casusariidae, and Psittaciformes: Psittacidae; immature stages have been recovered from Cuculiformes: Cuculidae, and Passeriformes: Acanthizidae, Melephagidae and Ptilonorhynchidae (Chalada et al. 2018, Guglielmone & Robbins 2018, Loh et al. 2018). Ixodes holocyclus is a frequent parasite of humans.
