- Blockchain, the foundation of Bitcoin, has received extensive attentions recently. Blockchain serves as an indisputable ledger which allows transactions take place in a decentralized style. Blockchain-based applications are springing up, covering abundant fields including economic services, reputation system and Internet of Things (IoT), and so on. This paper examines the global performance based on its publication output on Blockchain literature as indexed in Web of Science citation database during the period 2015 to 2019. A total of 1489 papers were indexed on “Blockchain” in the database during the 5 years of study. Histcite tool, MS-Excel spreadsheet and VOSviewer were used to scrutinize the data and for visualization respectively.
