MORPHOLOGY. — TL from 168 to 325 mm; 17 MSR, smooth; 159-184 Ven, smooth; 37-47 Sc; 8-9 supralabials; 9-10 infralabials; 1 preocular; 2 postoculars; temporal scale formula 1 + 2 + 3. DISTRIBUTION. — This species is widespread in the forested area but also inhabits the Guinean savannahs of ER III. Previously it has been recorded from Togo by Matschie (1893), Werner (1898, 1902), Sternfeld (1908b, 1909: 11), Hulselmans & Verheyen (1970) and Hulselmans et al. (1970).
