  • The Municipality of Soligeia, in which the specific syrvey took place, includes the former communities of Sofiko, Korfos and Angelokastro. The seat of the Municipality is Sofiko, 30 km SE of Corinth. Ancient Solygia is the area where one of the fiercest battles of the Peloponnesian War took place in 425 BCE. The Sofiko Castle rests at the top of Mount Tzalikas, the highest peak of the Soligeia peninsula, which towers over the community of Sofikos. Almost the entire top is surrounded by a dry stone wall. In the central axis of the dry stone construction there are ruins of a perfectly square watching tower and two temples, one of which has obviously been founded on a stone structure of older construction.
