- The article substantiates the strategic role of the agricultural sector in the process of economic development of the country. The method of estimating structural economic changes in the process of functioning of agricultural enterprises is outlined. Structural economic changes for enterprises specializing in crop production and animal husbandry during 2012-2019 are calculated. The period during which the greatest influence of agricultural enterprises on the economic system of Ukraine was carried out is determined. The agricultural sector plays a strategic role in the process of economic development of the country. The increase in agricultural production and the growth of the income of the rural population (per capita) together with industrialization and urbanization lead to an increase in demand for industrial production. There are several aspects of the impact of agriculture on socio-economic development, in particular: providing food and raw materials to non-agricultural sectors of the economy; shaping the demand for goods produced in the non-agricultural sectors by the rural population by strengthening the purchasing power of agricultural activities; ensuring the formation of excess investment in the form of savings and taxes that are invested in other sectors; accumulating (earning) valuable foreign currencies through the export of agricultural products; providing employment with a significant amount of unskilled labor. The greatest impact of the functioning of agricultural enterprises on the economic system during 2012-2019 is 2015. And the basis is formed by enterprises specializing in crop production, including the cultivation of cereals (except rice), legumes and oilseeds "23,84". This is due to many processes that took place in agriculture in Ukraine in 2015, including: a sharp increase in the level of profitability of agricultural production in crop production (50.9%) and animal husbandry (45.9%); growth of the share of value added of finished agricultural products in 2014 - up to 5.8%, which was reflected in its level of intensity of structural changes; growth of net profits of agricultural enterprises, in particular those specializing in the cultivation of cereals, legumes and oilseeds; expansion of foreign markets and export nomenclature of agricultural products; increase support for small and medium-sized businesses, farming and cooperatives.
