  • Synorthocladius Thienemann (Figs 66, 67) Head capsule yellow, triangular in shape. Antenna 5-segmented. Premandible with one apical tooth. Mandible with 3 inner teeth and short apical tooth, mola with one strong spine (Fig. 67). Mentum triangular with two median teeth and 4 or 5 pairs of lateral teeth sloping steeply (Fig. 66A). Ventromental plates narrow and long with strong beard (may be missing in subfossil material). Remarks: Larval Synorthocladius and Parorthocladius are similar, however the mentum of Synorhocladius has 2 median teeth on its apex. Only one Holarctic species, Synorthocladius semivirens (Kieffer, 1909) is known and it was identified from several Tatra Mts. lakes (Bitušík 2004). Subfossil remains were found rarely, only in two studied lakes.
