Generitype of Cyperus Linnaeus (vide Britton in Bull. Dept. Agric. Jamaica 5, Suppl. 1: 6. 1907). Current name: Cyperus esculentus L. (Cyperaceae). Note: De Vries (in Econ. Bot. 45: 32-34. 1991) discusses the early treatment of the species, and reproduces plates from Plantin (as f. 4).
