  • Antirrhinum majus Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 617. 1753. "Habitat in Europae australis maceriis, sepibus." RCN: 4462. Lectotype (Sutton in Jarvis & al, Regnum Veg. 127: 19. 1993): Herb. Linn. No. 767.58 (LINN). Generitype of Antirrhinum Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 167. 1929). Current name: Antirrhinum majus L. (Scrophulariaceae). Note: Sutton (Revis. Tribe Antirrhineae: 92. 1988) indicated 767.58 (LINN) as a syntype, subsequently (in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 19. 1993) explicitly treating it as the lectotype. As the material in question was not a syntype, the type choice dates from 1993.
