Pakistan 167: 11. 1985): [icon] "Anona maxima, foliis latis splendentibus, fructo maximo viridi conoide, tuberculis seu spinulis innocentibus aspero" in Sloane, Voy. Jamaica 2: 166, t. 225. 1725. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 7: 90 (BM-SL). Generitype of Annona Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 163. 1929). Current name: Annona muricata L. (Annonaceae). Note: Le Thomas (in Aubréville, Fl. Gabon 16: 324. 1969) indicated unspecified material in LINN as the type. However, she did not distinguish between the four sheets (708.1-708.4) there associated with this name, none of which in any case appears to be original material for the name.
