Malab. 4: 117, t. 57. 1683; [icon] in Walther, Design. Pl.: 3, t. 4. 1735. Generitype of Lawsonia Linnaeus (vide Hitchcock, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 150. 1929). Current name: Lawsonia inermis L. (Lythraceae). Note: Dar (in Nasir & Ali, Fl. W. Pakistan 78: 5. 1975) and a number of later authors have treated 496.1 (LINN) as the type. However, the material is a post-1753 addition to the collection and not original material for the name.
