- Trigonella monspeliaca Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 2: 777. 1753. "Habitat Monspelii." RCN: 5708. Lectotype (Lassen in Turland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 482. 1997): Herb. Linn. No. 932.13, right specimen (LINN). Current name: Medicago monspeliaca (L.) Trautv. (Fabaceae: Faboideae). Note: Ali (in Nasir & Ali, Fl. W. Pakistan 100: 292. 1977) and others have treated Herb. Linn. No. 932.12 (LINN) as the lectotype, but this cannot be regarded as relevant original material because it lacks Linnaeus’ annotation with the Species Plantarum species number (in this case “5”) and is a post-1753 addition to the collection and not original material for the name.
