  • Guilandina moringa Linnaeus, Species Plantarum 1: 381. 1753. "Habitat in Zeylona." RCN: 3005. Lectotype (Keraudren & Gillett in Bull. Soc. Bot. France 110: 317. 1963): Herb. Hermann 2: 24, No. 155 (BM-000594587). Current name: Moringa oleifera Lam. (Moringaceae). Note: Vidal (in Tardieu-Blot, Fl. Cambodge Laos Vietnam 2: 5. 1962) gives Burman 18 (G) as type but this would not have been studied by Linnaeus and is not original material for the name. Although Bullock (in Kew Bull. 14: 44. 1960) stated that this was "based upon" the Rheede plate, this is only partially correct in that a number of other important elements (notably the Hermann material) contributed to Linnaeus’ concept. Bullock’s statement does not constitute a formal typification.
