Daftar Isi:
- Gossypium hirsutum Linnaeus, Species Plantarum, ed. 2, 2: 975. 1763. "Habitat in America." RCN: 5076. Type not designated. Original material: Herb. Linn. No. 874.4 (LINN). Current name: Gossypium hirsutum L. (Malvaceae). Note: Watt (Wild Cult. Cotton Pl. World: 184, pl. 29. 1907) indicated a Miller collection in Herb. Sloane 294: 45 (BM-SL) as the type, but this was never studied by Linnaeus and is not original material for the name. It cannot be treated as a neotype because 874.4 (LINN) appears to be original material. Fryxell (in Brittonia 20: 382. 1968) regarded Miller’s cited description as the protologue but this is contrary to Art. 8.1.
