Lectotype (Hedge in Jarvis & al. in Taxon 50: 515. 2001): [icon] "Origano cognata Zatarhendi" in Morison, Pl. Hist. Univ. 3: 360, s. 11, t. 3, f. 17. 1699. Current name: Origanum syriacum L.
